SCIENCE - LIGHT
Class 2's science topic this term is light. This week's objective is to investigate which materials block light to form shadows. If you can't print out the worksheets, just record your work on a blank piece of paper.
1. Use the PowerPoint and pause to use the activities when prompted.
2. Punch holes in 3 identical pieces of card. Then line up the holes and shine a torch through the holes. What do you notice? What happens if the holes do not line up and you try to shine the torch through?
3. Investigate what would be a good material for a curtain. Use different materials and test how well they block light. Are they transparent, translucent or opaque? Record on the Choosing Materials sheet. You could use different types of fabric like cotton or nylon, clingfilm, tracing paper and any other materials you have at home.
4. Once you have investigated, draw the best curtains on the activity sheet and explain why you think this material would be the best.
You will also find a light 'knowledge organiser' in the files below. This will give you and your parents a good idea of the knowledge we will be covering in science this term.
