Writing task

This week’s writing task is based around the image in the attached Powerpoint ‘Stranded’, which you can also view by clicking on the link to pobble365. There is an activity to carry out on each slide of the Powerpoint. I recommend you do a slide each day this week.

Monday - Task 1: Open the word document below ‘Monday Story Opening Task’. You will find an explanation of the task based on the story opening on the first slide of the powerpoint.

Tuesday - Task 2: Have a go at the task on slide 2. You should have figured out which part you should be changing in yesterday’s task, but if you are unsure it is this one: ‘as a faint rainbow painted the sky with colour’.

Wednesday - Task 3: Have a think about your answers to the questions on slide 3. You could write them down and send them to me, or you could share your ideas with a family member.

Thursday - Task 4: Improve the sentences using one or more of the following:

  • Adverb
  • Adjectives
  • Prepositions phrases
  • Extending sentences with conjunctions

You can add words, but you can also change the words that are already there to make them more powerful or descriptive.

Friday - Task 5: Can you draw a picture of what the people on the beach can see? Alongside this will be your main writing task. I would like you to write the next part of the story. You do not have to finish the story completely, but I would like you to include a description of a storm approaching the island and how the people react to it. 2 or 3 paragraphs would be plenty. Try and describe the storm building up slowly and make it really dramatic!

Below you will find a storm word mat to help you with your ideas.
